Next month will see the BMW Motorrad New Season Launch take place on 08 March when the complete 2008 Rider Equipment range will be available in dealerships.
This year’s range includes a number of innovative and exciting new items as well as some improved versions of items from the existing range; these represent BMW’s continued commitment to provide the most up to date technological and safety advances in all BMW Rider Equipment.
New for 2008 is the Sports Collection, a range designed for the aspiring sports rider which serves to compliment the sporting direction that is being taken by BMW Motorrad. A brand new Sport helmet, two-piece leather Sport suit with matching Sport boots and Pro Sport 2 gloves are all part of the new collection.
Further additions for this year include two newly improved suits from the existing range. The popular Atlantis 3 suit and Tourance suit have been comprehensively updated to create the new Atlantis 4 suit and Tourance 2 suit for 2008.
The brand new Atlantis 4 leather suit is notable for its waterproofing properties. With the leather combining with additional waterproofing features, such as rubber outer zips and taped seams, to ensure optimum waterproofing without the need for an additional membrane. The 1.2 to 1.4 mm thick fast-drying nubuck cowhide leather, with water-repellent hydrophobic finish, is characterised by its low water absorption.
The suit’s material also dries quickly and provides inherent climate comfort and breathability. In addition stretch zones on the suit ensure a perfect fit every time. Safety features include NP protectors and reflective areas with additional NP protectors available as an optional extra.
The new Tourance 2 suit, much like its predecessor, is an ideal suit for touring, providing waterproof and windproof capabilities, whilst remaining breathable through a climate-conditioning membrane. Thermo inserts and indirect ventilation through zipped openings also make this suit hugely versatile and adaptable for riding in all seasons.
The suit also features stretch inserts to optimise rider comfort, and the many pockets include a large watertight compartment, ideal for keeping important travel documents safe and dry. In order to ensure passive safety the suit has large reflective areas and height adjustable NP protectors at various impact points.
Specifically for the ladies there is a new addition for 2008, the Club 2 ladies jacket, which offers all of the design characteristics of this sporty, modern jacket but now designed to fit the female frame. Width adjustments on the jacket make for a more comfortable fit and both inside and outside pockets provide plenty of room for storing life’s little essentials.
The jacket is hard-wearing and abrasion-proof and offers ample passive safety features with NP protectors and an additional pocket in the inside lining for a retrofittable back protector.
